In short: YouTube is now 20 years old, and the platform has changed significantly from its early days. A large minority of users is fed up with aggressive advertising and seek how to block advertisements whenever possible. It is a classic cat-end-mouse game.
Some users are once again disappointed with the irregular behavior of YouTube with ad blockers. The issue affects various browsers and layout engines, suggesting that Google may have introduced a new AD-AD inhibitory policy to push the audience back to view the audience.
Recently, according to a Neowin report, YouTube has begun to display its familiar banner warning against ad blockers, citing violations of the terms of the site service. The message stated: “It seems that you can use an advertising inhibitor. The video playback is blocked until Youtube is allowed or the ad inhibitor disables.”
Google insists that advertising is necessary to maintain YouTube as a free platform for billions of users worldwide. The company also emphasizes that only a “legitimate” method is to disable advertisements: subscribe to YouTube premium. This payment service ensures that manufacturers are compensated through membership revenue.
The banner presents users with only two options: allow advertisements by disabled advertising inhibitors or try YouTube premium for advertising experience.
Anti-AD inhibitory banner was revived for users surfing on the web via Opera GX. Chromium-based, gaming-oriented browser began to show warning despite the Ublock origin being active. The same issue affects some firefox examples, while some users were unable to remove the banner even after closing the blocked extension.
Nevin reported that Chrome was also being affected, providing a dull performance while the Eubock was the original active. Till now, I was not trying to repeat the Ad-AD blocker issue while watching me many YouTube videos. My Firefox Setup (135.0.1) Plus Ublock original 1.62.0 is still working, there is no problem in watching videos on full speed/resolution to block advertisements or report.
Google has been trying to end the growing popularity of Ad Bockers on YouTube for some time. The video platform is “punished” users with regular advertising blockers, or even with non-chrome browsers, while Chrome is currently in the process of infection to reveal the V3. The new extension technology is incompatible with Ublock original or other powerful ad blockers, while scammers are still an explosion.
