A new discovered trick Windows 11 allows users to bypass the online account requirement of Microsoft during the setup, raising questions around user control and privacy. X user lets users to set Windows 11 with a local account rather than being forced to log in with a Microsoft account shared by @WITHERORNOT1337.
It follows previous similar methods, which highlights the cat-end-mouse game running between microsoft and privacy-conscious users. Microsoft is rapidly carrying forward online accounts as a compulsory requirement for Windows 11, especially in home and pro versions. This change has disappointed many users who prefer local accounts for more privacy and freedom than Microsoft’s ecosystem.

The trick involves opening a command prompt and pressing the shift + F10 during the setup process to enter the command “Start MS-CXH: Localonly.” It bypasses the need for microsoft and enables the construction of a local account. The method is particularly applied to the house and pro versions of Windows 11, which no longer provides “I do not have internet” option during the setup. However, the ability to create a local account is officially available in education, enterprise, IOT and LTSC versions.
This is not the first time users have discovered ways to ignore Microsoft’s account enforcement. Previous methods included disabled of the Internet during installation, entering dummy email address or using specific command-line tools. However, Microsoft has regularly packed these flaws, making it difficult to bypass the requirement in the new build. Despite these efforts, take-service users continue to find new workarounds, indicating strong resistance to the policies of Microsoft.
While the bypass provides relief for users who prefer local accounts, there are potential risks. Microsoft may restrict some features or updates for equipment connected to the online account. Additionally, safety concerns arise when users are unable to obtain microsoft accounts, such as device recovery options and cloud-based security associated with distance management tools.
For now, people who want to use Windows 11 without a Microsoft account can take advantage of this latest move, but there is no guarantee that it will remain viable for a long time. Microsoft has not yet commented on the discovery, but given its history of closing such flaws, a patch may soon be on the way. Till then, users who give importance to local accounts on cloud integration have another tool to push back against the rapid restrictive setup process of Microsoft.
