Mayank Yadav has replaced Shardul Thakur in Lucknow Super Veterans (LSG) against Mumbai Indians at the Wankhed Stadium on Sunday.
After an extended rehabilitation at the Control Board (BCCI) Center of Excellence (CO) for Cricket in India, Paes Sensation Mayank Yadav joined LSG on 16 April, but had to wait before his return.
Captain Rishabh Pant won the toss and opted to enter the field against Mumbai Indians.
He said, “We are bowling first. We think the wicket is still towards batting. It is a day’s game. We want to use a little happy conditions under the sun. It would be better to bat during the second innings,” he said in the toss.
“We are in a good place, and individually, it is easy to put forward the team, which makes it easier. Surely, it looks good. Personally, I don’t think too much about it. We are taking every day as a new day.
“Just a change. Instead of Shardul, Mayank comes in.”
Mayank’s last competitive game returned in October 2024 when he painted in T20I against Bangladesh in Hyderabad. He has been out of action since then because of a back injury.

His return was delayed by a toe injury during his time during his time.
With the history of injury issues – as five stress fractures in the last two years – the LSG camp has worked with caution as far as Mayank is concerned.
Even in the 2024 version of the IPL, he played only four games and was rejected for the remaining season due to one side strain.
On the other hand, Mumbai Indians have made two changes, which have brought Karn Sharma for Mitchell Santner and debut for Vignesh Puthur in Corbin Bosch.
