
The members of the World Health Organization arrived on an agreement to prepare the world for future epidemic after more than three years of talks, the organization said on Wednesday.
The purpose of the legally binding treaty is to sideline the world defense against new pathogens after killing millions of people after killing millions of people after killing millions of people in 2020-22.
The proposal underlines measures to prevent future epidemic and strengthen global cooperation. This involves the installation of a pathogen access and profit sharing system and building geographically diverse research capabilities among others.
The agreement also proposes a global supply chain and logistics network emphasizing strong health system flexibility and preparations.
The health body said in a statement, “After intensive talks of more than three years, the member states which took a big step in efforts to make the world safe from Pandemics.”
The agreement is widely seen as a win for the global health agency, at a time when the multilateral organizations that were from sharp cuts in American foreign funding.
The United States, which was slow to attend the initial dialogue, quit the discussion this year, when the new President Donald Trump issued an executive order in February, with the US withdrew by WHO and talks.
The proposal will be considered in the World Health Assembly Policy meeting in May, the WHO said.
