On the game? Despite the growing userbase and popularity, Macos still creates important challenges for true gamers. While alternative solutions exist to reduce the burden, whiskey was one of the better compatibility layers that is now going to dark – because its developer has just lost interest.
Whiskey developer recently announced that the project would no longer be actively maintained. Also known as whiskewin, whiskey is a user -friendly friend designed to run the compatibility layer of the wine on McOS.
Like wine, whiskey is an open source, but it also includes codes from the codes, a commercial product that is a commercial product aimed at increasing the functionality of wine by offering additional reforms and better compatibility to run Windows games on the MAC system. Codeweavers have contributed over 50,000 changes to alcohol, making it a major force in the ongoing development of the project.
Whiskey will not receive any future release, possibly for sometime updates, if one breaks the MACOS upgrade application. The developer explained that he lost interest in the project, which is going to take time and provides little financial reward-especially for someone in school.
Additionally, the developer feels that whiskey has not made any meaningful contribution to the broad liquor community. Since the whiskey is based on the crossover and does not introduce its own new reforms, it eventually decreases.
In fact, the developer described whiskey as a “parasitic relationship” with a crossover – potentially damaged its profitability. “Without a crossover, there will be no alcohol on Mac,” the programmer said.
Codeweavers continue to invest important time and resources in converting Macos into a viable gaming platform. Crossover now includes equipment to support the latest Directx 12 games on Apple’s OS-so that Apple used its open-source code as a foundation for the company’s own game porting toolkit.
Meanwhile, whiskey has fully brought selective features from crossover and Apple toolkit to users under the open-source license.
Whiskey was a major venture for a single developer, which made the decision a difficult to prevent active growth. The programmer now focuses on other projects, including a MacoS port of the Sonic Anileshed Rampild made using Apple’s metal API. Old Console Games is an exciting frontier for retro gaming enthusiasts, although the immense effort required to bring back each title in life on modern PCs is unlikely to change the emulation or virtue.
