Former West Indies Paper Andy Roberts has recently slammed the International Cricket Council (ICC) for the recently concluded ICC Champions Trophy 2025 for cricket for cricket for cricket in India.
The tournament, originally nominated by Pakistan, was played in a hybrid model, in which Dubai hosted all India’s matches.
The arrangement was approved during a meeting of the ICC Board, which approved a policy for the 2024–2027 cycle, which transferred any India-Pakistan matches originally to transfer any India-Pakistan matches to determine at a neutral site.
During an interview recently, Roberts accused the ICC of giving unfair advantage to India in both the Champions Trophy and the T20 World Cup 2024, where India was allegedly informed about its semi-final stability against England in Guyana.
“Got to give something … India cannot get everything. ICC should not say many times. India also had an advantage in the last year’s T20 World Cup, where they already knew where their semi -finals would be played,” Roberts said.
“In the Champions Trophy, India did not need to travel. How can a team not travel during the tournament? “He asked question.
The 74 -year -old further claimed that the BCCI has a significant impact on the ICC, determining major decisions in international cricket.
“For me, ICC stands for the Indian Cricket Board. India determines everything. If tomorrow, India says, ‘Listen, no one should be there and wides,’ take my word, ICC will get a way to satisfy India, “he commented.
Former England captain Michael Atitrat also resonated similar concerns, which highlights India’s exclusive schedule as an unfair advantage in Dubai.
“What is the benefit of India in playing only in Dubai in Dubai, which I think I have an undeniable benefit, but an undeniable benefit? They are just playing at one site, ”Ettyart said.
He said, “They either do not need to travel between places or you know, among countries, many other teams have to do.”
It is appropriate to mention that India defeated New Zealand by four wickets at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Sunday to win the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 title.
It marked India’s third champion Trophy Triumph, first won in 2002 and 2013.
Chasing a target of 252, the 2013 champions comfortably reached with six wickets with six wickets and six balls.
