Karachi: The World Cricketers Association has called for preserved international windows, fair revenue distribution and strong player safety measures to prevent the fall of its traditional formats.
The WCA’s “Protecting History, Sore throat” report proposes fundamental structural changes as to what it recognizes as existence for international cricket.
Recommendations are revealed in the midst of increasing concerns that bilateral cricket is being wasted in the uncontrolled detail of the domestic T20 league and financial imbalance.
The Centerpiece proposal says annually for four compulsory 21-day windows where all top players should be available for international duty.
This “core international cricket” framework will ensure that each nation plays a minimum number of minimum meaningful matches in forms, preserving the location for the franchise tournament.
This system will work with a new divisional structure with promotion and allegations to maintain competitive balance.
Financial reforms will dramatically reset the game funds, by reducing revenue at 10% of the share of any country of the International Cricket Council (ICC) – a direct challenge for the current 38.5% of India.
A proposed global development fund will estimate $ 130 million annually to develop cricketing countries, funded by Levy on domestic leagues and poured media rights.
For players, the plan will eliminate restrictive contract segments and establish minimum professional standards.

According to findings, financial inequalities have reached the level of crisis. While India’s Cricket Board earns about $ 400 million annually from bilateral cricket, the combined income of nations is less than 4–10 in less than 6% global revenue.
The WCA has warned that this imbalance is creating a “vicious cycle”, where small nations cannot compete, reducing the overall quality of international cricket.
The aim of the proposed solutions is to describe players as “sustainable ecosystems”, where international and franchise cricket can be in co -existence.
By guaranteeing high quality international matches with full power teams, reforms want to restore the context and reputation of the bilateral series while maintaining financial opportunities provided by the domestic league.
The implementation will begin in early 2026, in which the full schedueling system was proposed to be effective in 2028 for men’s cricket and 2029 for women’s competitions.
