New Delhi: The Indian Cricket Board (BCCI) handed over its team to its team, claiming the Champions Trophy title earlier this month, which was a $ 6.72 million cash bonus on Thursday, three times the winner’s purse for the 50-over tournament.
Rohit Sharma and his people defeated New Zealand by four wickets in the March 9 final in Dubai to win their second gradual global title after their Twenty20 World Cup Triumph last year. The team took home of $ 2.24 million to win the Champions Trophy.
The world’s richest Cricket Board announced an additional Rs 580 million for players, assistant employees and members of the selection committee for its latest success in an International Cricket Council (ICC) tournament.
BCCI President Roger Binny said in a statement, “Back-to-back is special to win the ICC title and this reward recognizes Team India’s dedication and excellence on the global stage.”
“Cash Award is a belief of hard work that everyone places behind the screen.”
Board Secretary Devjit Saikia said that the players deserved bonuses for the recent domination of India’s limited overs cricket.
“This victory has upheld India’s top ranking in white-ball cricket, and we are sure the team will continue excellence in the coming years,” Saikia said.
