Vatican City (Reuters) – While the Pope fights pneumonia at the Hospital, the 1.4 billion -member Catholic Church headquarters work in the Vatican, the apps continue.
Although some theory matters require the Pope’s direct attention, senior Catholic cardinals and other Vatican officials may take several daily decisions that operate the global church.
70 or so many departments and offices in the microstat in Rome also remain open as normal seven days in the treatment of their hospital – as have been normally in the Pope’s health tribulations during their nearly 12 years of papy.

Although it is Francis’s fourth stay at Jamelli Hospital in Rome as the Pope, it is probably the most serious health crisis of 88 -year -old Pontif. He was earlier admitted to acute pneumonia in March 2023, but was rapidly recovered after receiving antibiotics. In July 2021, a nine -day stay was for a planned operation for the treatment of diverticulitis.
Along with issuing updates on the Pope’s position, the Vatican Press Office is also publishing its general daily bulletin with the declarations of the Pope’s decisions, most of which most of which is very much from hospitalization with respiratory problems on 14 February The first was approved by Francis.

Cardinal Michael Czerny, a Jesuit, especially known as Francis, left for a five -day visit to Lebanon on Wednesday. A senior reporter is traveling with him to the Vatican’s official media outlet, and is sending back the report focused on the continuous economic crisis of that country.
Cardinal Pitro Parolin, Secretary, State of Vatican, returned to Rome from Burkina Faso’s visit on Wednesday.
The 2025 Catholic Holy Year, which the Vatican is expected to bring some 32 million tourists to Rome, is traditionally moving forward for a special celebration held in every quarter of a century.
Despite the cancellation of the Pope’s scheduled sacred year events at the end of this week, thousands of pilgrims are still coming to the Basilica or Vatican Museums of St. Peter to visit each day.
“Hopefully, he will recover and will return here soon,” said Alberto Tomgan, an Italian tourist from the Vatican on Wednesday.
Francis suffers from double pneumonia, a serious infection that can provoke both lungs and scare and make more difficult to breathe.
The Pope’s position was stable and showed “minor improvements” in the results of recent blood tests, the Vatican said in his latest medical statement on Wednesday evening.
