Ukrainian President Volodimier Zelanski replaced his army top officer before a call on Tuesday between President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin about ending the war in Ukraine.
Andry Hannatov, who has a military experience over 27 years, was appointed as the new head of the general employees of the Ukraine’s Armed Forces, “said Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustom Umerov. Anatoliy Barhiylevych, who has held the position since February 2024, will now serve as a general inspector of Ukraine’s Ministry of Defense.
Umrov said in a statement, “We are constantly changing to make the armed forces even more efficient. To do this, we are changing the management system and implementing clear standards.”
Umroov said, “Lieutenant General Anatoli Barahilvich for his service as the head of General Staff. In the most difficult time, his experience and professionalism were important for Ukraine’s organization to protect Ukraine,” said Umrov. “Changes are in the process. Strengthen the army for victory.”

Personnel change comes as Trump and Putin is ready to speak by phone on Tuesday about the last points of a deal to end the war in Ukraine.
In a post on his true social stage, Trump said that many “elements of one final agreement” have been agreed “but a lot of remains.”

In the preparation of the Trump-Putin Call, the White House special envoy Steve Witchoff met last week to discuss the proposal with Putin in Moscow. State Secretary Marco Rubio persuaded senior officials of Ukrainian to agree to structure the ceasefire during talks in Saudi Arabia.
Trump said Washington and Moscow have already begun to discuss “dividing some assets” as part of a deal to end the conflict between Ukraine and Russia.

“This is a bad situation in Russia, and it is a bad situation in Ukraine,” Trump told reporters on Monday. “What is happening in Ukraine is not good, but we are going to see if we can do a peace agreement, a ceasefire and peace work. And I think we will be able to do it.”
