Kiev: Both Ukraine and Russia have taken their complaints in Washington, alleging attacking energy facilities in a violation of an alleged understanding in Saudi Arabia, as Kiev has urged the US to tighten the restrictions on Moscow.
Each party has accused others of breaking an alleged deal to prevent firing at energy sites, although a formal agreement has not been signed, and the commitments made by each side are unclear.
Following separate meetings with US authorities, the White House stated that both Ukraine and Russia agreed to develop measures to implement “Russia and Russia’s agreement to ban attacks against energy facilities”.
Ukrainian President Volodimier Zelansky said his Defense Minister, Rustom Umrov, was in touch with American officials.
“We have passed all the necessary information about Russian violations in the energy sector,” Zelancesi said at his daily evening address.
He first called Washington to strengthen the restrictions on Russia as a response.
“I am confident that we have come to the point of increasing the impact of restrictions, as I believe Russians have promised America. At least America is violating what we have told us and publicly.”
“And we hopes so much that the President (Donald) Trump has all these appropriate tools to increase the pressure of restrictions on the Russian side.”
He said that Ukraine remains “ready” for an unconditional ceasefire with Russia.
In Moscow, Russian President Vladimir Putin first discussed allegations of Ukrainian “violation” at a private meeting of top security officers on Tuesday.
Moscow also said that it submitted his complaints to Washington.
‘We passed a list’
Foreign Minister Sergei Lavarov said after the meeting, “We passed a list of violations of US National Security Advisor Mike Waltz.”
He said, “I have passed this list to US State Secretary Marco Rubio.”
The Russian Ministry of Defense had earlier accused the striking and partly Moscow-controlled Ukrainian region Zaporizia at the Russian energy sites in the Russian region of Belgorod.
Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Andree Sibiga said thousands of people were released without power in the southern Kherson region by a Russian strike.
Local officials later stated that the power supply was restored.
Russia has launched a air strike on Ukrainian power plants and grids since the attack in February 2022.
Putin last month rejected a joint US-Ukrainian proposal for an unconditional and complete ceasefire.
Sybiga also stated that Kiev and Washington were holding new talks on a mineral agreement that would provide access to Ukrainian natural resources to the United States in exchange for more support.
The two countries in February planned to sign a deal on Ukraine’s strategically important minerals, until a magnificent television White House conflict between Trump and Zelancesi derailed the agreement.
Trump on Sunday warned of Zelancesi that if Kiev rejected the latest American proposal, they would be “big problems”, the details of which have not been published from both sides.
