The United Kingdom may not be the first G7 nation to not build its own steel, with a leading steel firm President Donald Trump’s tariff to stop employing two blast furnaces.
Telegraph reported that the British Steel, owned by Jinge, announced a plan to shut down its two blast furnaces in England. Closure put 2,700 jobs in the United Kingdom after 150 years at the end of 2,700 jobs and steel production. Jingye bought British Steel in 2020.
Jingye stated that “implementing tariffs” had made the blast furnace and steel -making operations “no longer niche”.
The leftists think that Trump’s tariff is a declaration of war. But they are clear about the battlefield

Trump has imposed 25% tariffs on steel and aluminum imports in the United States earlier this month.
Jingye said that it has invested billions of dollars to maintain operations since 2020, but this loss is a balloon of about a hundred thousand dollars per day.
Closure may have national security implications.
Energy Minister Sara Jones said, “One reason is that Russia bombed all the blast furnaces in Ukraine, as countries require steel not only for defense but also for the construction of roads and infrastructure.”
Community Union General Secretary Roy Rikhus said: “We urge Jinge and the government to go back to the table to resume the conversation before they are too late.”

He said, “Given that now we are on the verge of becoming the only G7 country without domestic primary steelmaking capacity, it is no exaggeration to say that our national security is seriously threatened,” he said.
Trump fought us to keep us steel in American hands. A Japanese company Nippon Steel said it was ready to increase investment in American steel features, as it tries to convince Trump Thah that the Pittsburgh steelmaker would be in good hands with foreign ownership.
During the September 2024 campaign rally, Trump said, “We are going to keep steel here in America.”

Trump first opposed the deal in February 2024, but earlier this year it was said that Nippon would talk on an investment in American Steel, instead of a purchase, Pittsburgh Post-Gajat said.
