The US on Tuesday added dozens of Chinese technology companies in its export blacklist in its first such attempt under the Donald Trump administration, as it doubles to reduce Beijing’s artificial intelligence and advanced computing capabilities.

The Bureau of Industry and Security of the US Department of Commerce added 80 organizations to a “unit list”, with more than 50 from China, stopping American companies from supply to those in the list without government permits.

Companies were allegedly blacklisted to work contrary to the interests of US national security and foreign policy, the agency said, as part of its efforts to further limit access to Beijing’s accessel computing technology, which can process a large amount of data on very high speeds, as well as quantum technologies.

The Department of Commerce said that dozens of Chinese institutions were targeted for their alleged involvement in developing advanced AI, supercomputers and high -performance AI chips for military purposes, two firms were supplying to approved institutions such as Huawei and its associated chipmekar Hisilican.

This blacklisted 27 Chinese institutions to help China’s military modernization and China’s quantum technology capabilities to support China’s military modernization and seven firms.

The “Entity List” also had six assistants of the Chinese cloud-committing firm Inspur Group, which was blacklisted by the Biden administration in 2023.

China’s Foreign Ministry said that late Wednesday night it “strongly condemns” export sanctions “urging the US from normalizing the US national security.

A senior lecturer at the latest addition “National University of Singapore and” Techno-Nationalism: How It Raping Trade, Geopolitics and Society “said Alex Capri, a senior lecturer at Jiopolitics and Society”, said, “The latest additions have carried out a netted net for the purpose of third countries, third countries, transit points and intermediaries. ,

Chinese firms have succeeded in achieving access to American strategic dual use technologies through some third parties, referring to flaws that have allowed Chinese companies to access US technologies despite restrictions.

“Will continue tracking and tracing operations for the purpose of smuggling advanced semiconductors made by the American official. Nvidia And Advanced micro equipment,” He said.

Extended export restrictions come at a time when tension between Washington and Beijing is growing with tariffs against China with Trump administration.

Rapid Uday of Chinese AI Startup Deepsec has promoted adopting open-sources low-cost AI models in China, putting pressure on American competitors with high cost, proprietary models.

The Biden administration implemented extensive export control against China, which included everyone from semiconductors to supercomputers under the so -called “small yard, high fence” policy. The approach aims to ban a small number of technologies with significant military capacity while maintaining general economic exchange in other areas.

Commerce Secretary for Industry and Security and Jeffrey for security. Casler stated that the agency is “sending a clear, luxurious message” that the Trump administration would prevent US technologies “from misuse of high performance, hypersonic missiles, military aircraft training and UAV (unmanned air vehicle), which threatens our national security.”

He said, “The unit list is one of the many powerful equipment in our disposal, seeking to take advantage of American technology to identify and cut foreign opponents,” he said.

Inspur Group and Huawei did not immediately respond to CNBC’s requests for comments.
