Tokyo: Two American marines in Okinawa, Japan are investigating for alleged rapes, police said on Thursday, the latest in attack cases, who are annoying residents.

There are about 54,000 military personnel in Japan in the United States – mostly on the east of Taiwan, on the subtropical southern island of Okinawa.

A local police officer told AFP, “In the 20s, an American Marine is suspected of raping a Japanese woman at an American military base in March, and is also suspected of injuring another woman.”

The official said that even in the second sea, its 20s, a Japanese woman on an American base in January is suspected of raping a Japanese.

The police have mentioned two cases to the prosecutors.

Washington US Ambassador George Glass said that the investigation would cooperate with Japanese authorities “fully”.

He said in a statement, “We give deep importance to the confidence and friendship relations made in several decades with our Japanese hosts, and I am committed to all the things that I can do to stop the tasks that can put these bonds in danger,” he said in a statement.

On Friday, US service members included Japanese authorities and residents in Okinawa for one joint night patrol with a downtown street with bars.

Patrol – The first such joint operation since 1973 – American soldiers were involved in other sexual harassment cases in Okinawa.

A 21 -year -old Marine was accused of rape in June last year, a 25 -year -old American soldier accused of attacking a girl under 16 years after the prosecution.

Japanese media reported that Okinawa Governor Denny Tamaki called the latest cases “disappointing” and said that the officials would urge the US Army to prevent similar incidents.

Japan’s top government spokesperson Yoshimasa Hayashi on Thursday refused to comment on cases in a regular briefing, but said crime by American soldiers was “unacceptable”.

The alleged rape took place in a toilet in March, and the injured woman was trying to stop the attack on another woman, saying the Japanese media citing police sources.

There are long relations between Okinavans and American locations.

Police said last year, a total of 80 people associated with the US Army were charged in Okinawa for various crimes.

The 1995 gang rape of a 12-year-old girl by three American soldiers in Okinawa inspired a major backlash-The United States allowed troops to station in Japan with a call for reconsideration of the treaty of 1960.
