Hitpe and NPCI International have participated to bring UPI to Singapore, which enabled the QR code payment to Indian tourists in more than 12,000 traders.
Apart from Singapore, UPI is available in seven more countries.
The payment solution provider, HITPAY has participated with NPCI International Payments Limited (NIPL) to bring India’s Integrated Payment Interface (UPI) to Singapore. This cooperation enables Indian tourists to make seamless QR code-based payments in restaurants, stores and tourism attractions-which reduces the problem of currency exchange or international fee. Over time, UPI will be accepted in more than 12,000 traders in Singapore, its availability for both online and in-store transactions will be expanded.
According to the economic time, Ritesh Shukla, CEO of NPCI International, said, “We are committed to expand the global footprint of UPI to simplify transactions for Indians abroad. Our partnership with Hitpe increases UPI’s acceptance in Singapore, offers a worldable, cheap payment method while traveling to Indians.

If you are traveling to Singapore and want to use UPI for payment, then start by ensuring that your UPI app supports international transactions- Apps like PhonePe, Google Pay, Paytm, and Bhim UPI can work, but it is best to check with your bank or provider. Once capable, just scan the QR code of the businessman, enter the amount, and confirm the transaction with your UPI PIN. This uninterrupted process lets you make trouble-free payment without worrying about currency exchange or additional fees.
Earlier this year, NIPL collaborated with UAE-based magnity to enable QR-based UPI payments on the United Arab Emirates terminals. In September 2024, it participated with the Ministry of Digital Transformation (MDT) of Trinidad and Tobago to develop a real -time payment system based on India’s UPI, making Trinidad and Tobago the first Caribbean nation to adopt UPI.
Apart from Singapore, Trinidad and Tobago and UAE, many other countries have also adopted UPI payment. These include Bhutan, Mauritius, Nepal, Sri Lanka and France.
