A writer decided to be freed from constant information and domacrolling by creating an old school typewriter with a modern turn.
A witch known by “Bilbonabigos” manufactured this sleek litel machine, which was dubbed “typewriter” to the author to maximize the focus. Powered by the Raspberry Pie 3 model B+ board, in the case of wood it gives a pleasure rustic look that reminds of a vintage “suitcase” typewriter. While the form is as close as it can reach a vintage typewriter, it is not devoid of modern characteristics.
The typewriter removes long-stroke keys, ink ribbons and paper vehicles for a more modern interface. For input, bilbonbigos used a Redragon K614 Anivia 60-percent mechanical keyboard. The 7.9-inch ultra-wide display fixed above the keys offers output. The foldout lid doubles as a stand to support a notebook or a hand -free reference to support a copy. It also has a cub to stand a mouse.
The typewriter charges a 10,000 mAh battery through an underlying USB-C port. The device runs on the full desktop version of Raspberry Pie OS. However, bilbonbigos uses it only to run the focus writer app. Remember, the point was to eliminate many distractions of modern PCs.
Bilbonbigos posted its composition on R/WriterateDech subredit, a community dedicated to dedicated writing tools that reduce or eliminate distractions and eliminate regular computers and laptops. Generally, this means that no email, text messaging, social media and endless information to focus on that goods. For bilbonbigos, making typewriter was deeply individual.
“The fact is that I managed to finish it while fighting depression and burnouts (thanks to the doctors successfully in the hospital where I was for a few weeks between creating a typewriter) and it works that it is just wow, man. A great feeling,” he wrote.
Diyer believes that there is still a place for improvement. A new raspberry pie and a better cooling solution is already in the list of improvements. He would also want to install a more light and minimum OS. For now, this heavy but fun word processor is the perfect firearm for the crisis of a modern writer.
