Currently the total lunar eclipse is taking place, a astronomical event that started tomorrow (Thursday) and will continue till today (Friday).
The Moon is inserted in a deep, copper-red color and can be seen from the western hemisphere of the Earth. al Jazeera,
It is worth noting that a lunar eclipse occurs when the Earth is directly located between the Sun and the Moon, obstructs the sunlight and puts a shadow on the surface of the moon.
Why is the eclipse moon red?
The moon turns red or orange during the total lunar eclipse.
In addition, the only sunlight reaching the moon first has to pass through the Earth’s atmosphere.
Sunlight pushes into dust particles, water drops and atmospheric gases.
Additionally, an event known as Rayle’s disintegration occurs in the game.
In this phenomenon, the colors of sunlight that are associated with long wavelengths, are less scattered and are able to make it around the Earth to reach the moon, while low wavelength colors are scattered everywhere and never make it on the moon.
As anyone has seen a rainbow or has observed a prism, the color in the sunlight ranges from the violet (shortest wavelength) to the red (the longest wavelength).
Giving the only natural satellite of the Earth in that color, the red light reflects its surface.
The total lunar eclipse is not rare, however, this does not happen frequently because there are usually only a few in every decade.
