Thailand’s Khuning Vatma Lsvadtrakul became the second female president of the Badminton World Federation as her appointment as the new head of the Shiva Body was confirmed at the 86th BWF annual general meeting in China on Saturday. Levadtrakul won unopposed as she was the only nominated person for the post.
Khuning Patama successfully succeeded Denmark’s Pol-Eric Hair, with a 12-year term ends on Saturday as the Chairman of BWF.
Lu Segrong, who served as a role from 1993 to 2001, was the first female head of the global governing body. LU’s election as IBF President in 1993 was also the first Chinese president of any international sports organization.
“For me, badminton has always been more than a game and tonight is a deep meaningful milestone,” said Khurani. “While badminton is in a strong position today, we should continue to work towards making badminton really a global game.
“The next Olympic and Paralympic games in Los Angeles are just three years away and the LA28 presents a powerful opportunity to elevate our game on the world stage. We must be ready to grab this moment.” Høyer was awarded the Honorary Life Vice President by BWF membership at AGM.

Khuning Patama said: “Badminton has come a long way in the last decade, and I am really grateful to the strong foundations that have been laid by my good friend Pol-Eric Hair.
Hayer reflected his 12 -year tenure, the growth of the game and his wishes for the future.
