State health officials confirmed 561 in 23 counties on Tuesday, 20 increase from April 11.
Citing the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS), the case in Ganes County, the center of outbreak in West Texas jumped from 355 to 364. According to health officials, County now accounts for about 65% of the total cases of the state.
In response to outbreak, the US government will send seven personnel to help the state fight outbreaks, the outlet reported.

Measles cases in Texas have increased to 561.
Dr. of Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). David Sugarman, according to Reuters, gave an update on the US response to measles outbreak on Tuesday. He said that the CDC had already deployed 15 personnel in Texas from 1 April to 4 March and the agency had planned to send another team on Tuesday.
However, Sugarman said that the response to outbreak has been stopped from cancellation of federal grants to the states, according to the Reuters.
“We are scrapping to find the resources and personnel required to provide assistance to Texas and other courts,” Suganman said.

A local public health officer also told Reuters that the outbreak could last for a year.
Director of Lubock Public Health, Dr. Catherine Wales told Reuters that if the outbreak continues to spread on January 20, 2026, the US may be at risk of losing its measles eradication. The US was declared free from spatial measles transmission in 2000.
Texas health officials stated that only 4%, in less than 25 cases confirmed, is estimated to be “actively infectious”. Individuals are infectious four days in advance and before the start of the rash.

Ever since the outbreak started, 58 of the total patients of the state have been admitted to the hospital.
Currently, children under the age of 18 create the largest demographic of measles infected people, accounting for 381 out of 561 cases.
Two deadly records have been recorded among the children of the school-age class. The children were not vaccinated and had no inherent conditions.
Health officials said that since January, seven cases have been stated to those who were completely vaccinated and four cases that had only one vaccine dose, told by health officials.

Other 550 cases were reported in those who were either not vaccinated or their vaccination status is unknown.
