The iPhone 16E lacks support for Magsafe charging, a lapse that has dominated the conversation about Apple’s cheapest iPhone model this week. Initially, there were speculation that the Magsafe was excluded due to intervention with Apple’s C1 chip, designed for iPhone, its first cellular modem.
Yesterday, Apple confirmed that C1 had nothing to do with the Magsafe’s lapse on the iPhone 16E. A new test conducted by an iPhone case accessory manufacturer and shared together 9to5mac Adds more expansion to the situation.
iPhone 16e Magsafe and C1 tests
The secondary manufacturer conducted two tests. First, it focused on wireless charging speed. Even though the iPhone 16E does not have the facility of self -supporting support, you can still use a third party case with the underlying magnets to achieve equal functionality. If you do this, this test shows that you will get high wireless charging speed.
In his test, the case manufacturer found that the iPhone 16E contains highly variable charging rates when charging the Magsef-SAC and without magnetic alignment. It is largely responsible for the fact that it is difficult to get an accurate placement on the wireless charger without that magnetic alignment.
Charging speed with iPhone 16e without any case and manual alignment:
- Chakra 1: 4.2W
- Chakra 2: 5.0W
- Chakra 3: 4.7W
- Chakra 4: 5.9W
- Chakra 5: 6.5W
Meanwhile, when charged through a case with the underlying magasaf and magnetic alignment, the iPhone 16E also charged 7.5W in all five charging cycles. This is the accurate charging speed cited by Apple in its technical glasses for the device.
The case manufacturer also tested whether a magasaf-competent case and charging Pak have affected cellular data speed. Again, Apple has already debunted the principle, but the results of this speed test add more support to Apple’s claim.
The test safari was conducted using a Rogers cellular connection through the Google Internet Speed Test Tool. All results in Mbps.

- Chakra 2: 190.2
- Chakra 3: 195.7
- Chakra 4: 196.8
- Chakra 5: 199.1
As you can see, these numbers confirm that the iPhone 16E and Magsafe Magnet have no intervention between the C1 modem. It assures me that the Magsafe at the iPhone 16e was a cost-out decision by Apple, unfortunately. We can learn more after the emergence of the first iPhone 16E TierDown in the coming weeks.
