A controversial protest was held against Team Israel in Telin, Estonia on Saturday night at the European Fencing Championship.
Members of Switzerland’s silver medalist Under -23 fencing team turned their face to Israel’s gold medalist during the medal ceremony, while the Israeli national anthem.
Israeli won the gold by defeating Switzerland 45–34.

Following the incident, Israeli Foreign Minister Gidon Saar condemned Switzerland for protest.
The Israeli fencing team has faced previous opposition by opponents in recent years.
In May 2023, Iraq’s national fencing team against Israel was withdrawn from a match at the World Fencing Championship in Istanbul.

FIFA’s disciplinary committee was asked to look into the allegations of discrimination against Team Israel and even had to consider a suspension after the Palestinian Football Federation, PFA. PFA especially Israeli federation IFA accused The Israeli government involved in violation of international law, discrimination against Arab players and including clubs in the Palestinian region in their league.
FIFA did not suspend Israel, and IFA later prolonged the PFA on the allegations in a statement to Fox News Digital.
