
Residents of South London are learning how to use a slow cooker to make healthy food on the budget for their families.
Sutton Council is offering free lessons in “Slow Cooker Club” in an attempt Dine with poverty In the area.
The local authority said it was also using the club to provide low income and useful advice to weaker residents.
Family hubs and children’s centers lead Claire Borg, who came with this idea, said: “I didn’t know the syllabus would be so popular.”

He said, “Slow Cooker Club gauged how we can support local families in sutton with the cost of life, isolation and healthy food,” she said.
Ms. Borg said that the parents’ response was particularly “heavy”.

Charlie, one of the students of the course, said: “The course is very informative and the tutors were very helpful and encouraging.
“Now I feel confident in some staple dishes for cooking for my daughter.”
The local authority provided slow cooker classes during four weeks.
During lessons, people were taught how low cost, how to cook healthy food and they were given materials to practice at home.
Those who participated, they also got a free slow cooker.
Funding for lessons came as an external community grant from supermarket chain Sensbury.

Ms. Borg said that she was particularly proud that the course was able to help some mothers in the local community who felt isolated.
Now the team is demanding more funding so that they can run the course again.
