A strong 7.7 magnitude earthquake shook the Thai capital on Friday, which swept away the buildings.
The US Geological Survey and the GFZ Center for Giosainses of Germany said that the mid -day templer was a shallow 10 kilometers (6.2 mi), according to the preliminary reports, with a sub -center in the neighboring Myanmar.
Greater Bangkok region is home to over 17 million people, many of which live in high -rise apartments.
The alarms in buildings were closed as the earthquake hit around 1:30 pm, and the staggering residents were thrown down from the high -growing condominium and stairs of hotels in densely populated central Bangkok.
They remained on the streets, looking for shadow from the afternoon sun in minutes after the earthquake.
There was no immediate report of damage or casualties.
