Dallas Cowboy plans to use the franchise tag on a defensive tack, if a long -term deal has not reached Tuesday’s deadline, sources on Sunday told ESPN’s Jeremy Fouler and Dan Graziano.
The franchise tag is estimated at $ 25.1 million for defensive tackle.
If the cowboy tag Odighizuva, it would be the seventh time in the last eight years, they opted for the franchise tag. The last two players tagged, Tony Pollard (2023) and the tight end Dalton Shults (2022) returned, did not sign the extension for a long time and left through the free agency next year. Cowboys were capable of signing the Dak Prescott (2020–21) and Demarcus Lawrence (2018-19) for longer deals after using the tag for the second time.
The teams have up to 4 pm on Tuesday evening to place tags on their pending free agents.
In 2021, a third -round pick by Cowboy from UCLA, 26 -year -old Odighizuva has not missed a game in his career (67 directly with 63 starts).
His best season was in 2024, with career-hai 4.5 sacks, 47 tackles, losses for 5 tacks, 1 forced combles and 1 pass deflection. He was credited with 54 pressures, the second for Micah Parsons on Cowboy.
6 -Foot -2, in 280 pounds, Odigizuva depends more on the leverage and faster than the cruel strength, but he can hold well in the run game. He played a career-high 860 Snap (77.9%) in 2024.
He has 172 tackles and 13.5 sacks in his four NFL season.
