A park covering an area of just 2.5 square feet in Nagijumi, Japan, was officially named the world’s smallest park, breaking the previous record organized by an American park in Portland, Oregon.
According to Guinness World Records, “The smallest park measures 0.24 square meters (372 in) and was obtained by Nagijumi Town (Japan) in Nagijumi, Shizuoka, Japan.”
A worker at the Construction Management Division of Nagijumi Town made it after returning from a visit to the United States, where he faced the Mill Ends Park in Portland, Oregon.
The US Park had the first record at 3.1 sq ft.
Shooji Koyama, a team leader of the Construction Management Division, told the Guinness World Records: “So, he wanted to build a single small park,”
Tiny Park did not strengthen its place in record books despite completion in 1988.
Although it is now certified as the world’s smallest park, its dimensions were officially measured by the Guinness World Records in December last year.
Koyama said: “We want to continue to maintain the park with the community, as well as create a landscape that is more social media that more people get attractions of our city.”
