Scooter Braun reveals where his relationship with Justin Bieber stands
Justin Bieber’s relationship with his former longtime music manager Scooter Braun is not the same anymore.
The music mogul, 43, made an appearance on a recent episode of The Diary of a CEO podcast, where he got candid about the state of his relationship with Bieber, 31.
Braun, who is largely credited for discovering the Baby hitmaker in 2008, began on a positive note as he reflected on their journey so far.
“We were able to achieve some amazing things. I’m very proud of what we achieved and always rooting for him,” said Braun while reflecting on their past.
However, Braun added that their relationship is “not the same that it was” even since they ended their working relationship in 2023.
“I think these things go in ebbs and flows,” said Braun. “There comes a point where I understand he probably wants to go on and show that he can do it.”
“We worked together for so long and we had such extreme success, and I think you get to a point as a man where you want to show the world you can do it on your own,” said Braun.
“And I completely respect that. I think at this point, that’s what he’s doing. Myself and everyone from the old team is rooting for him.”
Braun said that he now considers himself a “cheerleader from the side,” and wants “everyone that I worked with to do well.”
The music mogul also addressed Bieber’s decision to pull the plug on their working relationship.
“No, not at that point. I think I was also at that point,” Braun responded when asked if he was “hurt by the decision.
“At that point, it had been a couple years where I knew I wanted to do something else. I wanted to find out who I was, I wanted to experiment with a different career. We were both communicating enough with each other. The writing was on the wall,” he said.
Braun, who also managed stars like Ariana Grande and Demi Lovato, announced his retirement from music management in June 2024, saying he wanted to focus on raising his three children.
