Samsung achieved an industry-first by shipping the EUV Dram in 2020. Today, it has started mass production of the industry’s smallest 14Nm EUV Dram on a large scale. The importance of this latest innovation is that Samsung DDR5 DRAM becomes the most available (five layer EUV), claiming to have “more performance and capacity”.

Senior VP in Samsung Electronics and head of DRAM products and technology, Joyong Lee stated in a press release that Samsung has set a significant milestone with its extreme miniature of DRAM for the application of its EUV 14Nm technology. According to Samsung’s own test, the new DDR5 will promote more than 20 percent of productivity and functions in “5G, AI and Metaverse Data-Inaculated World” compared to the previous gene draam. Efficiency should be improved with a uniform margin.

On the subject of performance, we have some more numbers shared, thankfully. Samsung says that, taking advantage of the latest DDR5 standard, it is worth gaining up to 7.2GBPS. For reference, a standard DDR4 module will run at that rate less than half on 3.2Gbps.

Last but at least, Samsung intends to refine its 14Nm Dram output to increase the IC density to 24 GB. Such an achievement can enable 768GB DDR5 DIMM. The mainstream DDR5 DIMM is not initially expected in capacity above 64GB per stick.

    DDR5 pricing signal from Newegg

While we can all agree that DDR5 is an attractive offer for buyers of new systems that support it, it is rumored that early adopted enthusiasts will be available in the enthusiastic motherboard variants – one version with DDR5 support, and the other with DDR4. For example, ASUS has been seen registering Prime Z690-A, Z690-P and Z690-V boards with the suffix ‘D4’.

For example, motherboard options for the latest platforms such as Elder Lake-S can be welcomed, for example, to keep the build prices down, because a newegg listing suggests that DDR5 will command considerable premiums in the launch. There is a Twitter leaker Moldy GEIL Polaris RGB SyNC 32GB (2 x 16GB) 288-Pin DDR5 SDRM DDR5 4800 (PC5 38400) $ 349.99 for one price on desktop memory on desktop memory on desktop memory. The same memory kit in Japan was later seen at JPY45,174. These amounts change between GBP £ 250 and £ 300.
