While campaigning at a church in South Africa, there should be “no crowd” in the talks after kidnapping a pastor of Tennessee, a retired FBI agent and the hostage negotiator of Noxville told Fox News Digital.
“There is no crowd,” Jason Pack told Fox News Digital on Friday evening. “To calm things, slow down things and simply to have that dialogue and to see if the hostage is really important here.”
He said that he is sure that American officials are in close contact with South African authorities, leading the investigation, saying that the US embassy, the FBI, also has a legal attached office that will include it.
Pack explained, “Talks want to buy time and slow down things. Generally speaking, when such an incident occurs, a lot of adrenaline pumping occurs, there is a lot of risk for violence. So, generally, at that time, when these incidents occur, there is the highest risk for violence. So there is time, hope that there is an open line and this is the opportunity to make it safe.”

Pack said that this could mean that the kidnapping was for money rather than “political statements” against Americans or missionaries.
“So hopefully it is an indication of an open line and an open dialogue that those who are involved with it want to do and therefore everyone can come home safely,” he said.
Pack said that Sulivan and his family are from the same part of Tennessy as him and “the community is rally around him. They are certainly prayers for their loved ones for a safe return to the pastor and his family for a safe return of the pastor and his family.
