In a positive development amid rising political temperatures in the country, Defense Minister Khwaja Asif announced on Thursday that the ruling coalition Pakistan was ready to invite Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) to the All-Parties Conference on Terrorism.
Earlier today, while addressing a press conference in Quetta, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif urged all political forces to sit together to eradicate the danger of terrorism and formulate a strategy to bring economic stability in the country.
Emphasizing the need for national unity to deal with terrorism, the premiere announced to hold a meeting of all political stakeholders after consultation.
The premiere today arrived at Quetta to express solidarity with people and review the law and order situation after the deadly Jaffer Express kidnapping incident.
During the operation, security forces abolished all 33 Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) militants who abducted the train. About 21 passengers and four FC personnel were also martyred at the hands of the terrorist.
Speaking on the Jio News show “Today Shahzab Khanzada Kayas”, the Defense Minister said: “We are ready to invite PTI to the APC, but they (PTI) should also attend the meeting unconditionally.”
It is appropriate to mention here that the former ruling party did not attend a multi-party conference convened by the ruling coalition against Israeli’s atrocities in Gaza in October last year.
Responding to a question, the minister said that PML-N and PPP never laid conditions for meetings on matters related to national interest.
