In the last 24 hours, our planet has been changing with the influence of a powerful coronal mass ejection (CM), which hit the Earth’s magnetic field on 15 April – and the resulting Arora was absolutely breathtaking.
It was not just any CME, it was a rare ‘cannibal’ CME when two CMEs were launched in a quick succession by a double filament explosion on Suraj, which merged while traveling through space.
Initially, it was not clear that CMEs would reach or merge separately, but after dramatic geomagnetic activity and the burning Arora displays worldwide, it is now believed that they believe Combined in a strong, cannibal explosion ,
Result? A bright global Arora spectacle burnt the sky far beyond the polar regions. The NOAA’s Space Weather Predictive Center issued a G3 Geomagnetic Storm warning for 16 April. Not only these conditions were met, but for a brief period, the serious G4-tier storm had reached. NOAA classifies geomagnetic storms using a G-scal, which ranks their intensity from G1 (Minor) to G5 (peak).
Below, we are demonstrating some of the Arora shots leaving some of the most jaws occupied in North America, Europe and Southern Hemisphere during this extraordinary solar storm.
Arora photo roundup In Tempre, Finland, Austin McDonald During the G4 situations, the Arora show the Jaw of the last night captured the photos leaving the jaw.
“I was amazed and almost overwhelmed. While living in Finland, I look at Andurus many times, Chhote G1 from storms to last year’s peak G5 storms. But there was something special last night.” McDonald told Space.com in an email.
McDonald has described a large extent ramping activity around the 2345 EET (2045 UTC), at its peak, explosives, rapid growing and rapid -growing auries overheads were seen.
“It came so fast, and it was not just overhead, it was in the south, north, east, west … it felt as if I stood inside the 360 degree Arora region. It made me feel incredibly small,” McDonald continued.

McDonald found himself at the right place at the right time to watch the Arora show last night. The space season is fickle, and just because some Needed This does not mean.
“I used to work in meteorological, research on severe weather, and in many ways, it felt like looking at an ideal storm atmospheric.
“This is the kind of experience that stays with you for days. You keep playing it again in your mind, every time you stop, catch a little shine. And then there is the place where you were standing where you saw and saw the sky alive. Every time you walk in that place, it hits all of you again. It is like that, the accurate patch of the earth is like something, it is something big for you.

Meanwhile, in the southern hemisphere, x user Aerrausuu Arora is dancing above a beautiful picture of Australia (or southern lights).
Aurorasou wrote, “Arora Australis 17/04/2025 84 % Full Moon The Zenith and Lady finally decided to bring Shogirl out,” Aurosau has written Post on X. “In the true style she beats the moon and gave us all that we were there- the naked eye beams and colors were an exciting closing.”
Although conditions are decreasing, tonight is a good chance of northern lights at high latitudes. According to the NOAA Space Weather Prediction Center, the KP index is expected to be at 4.33 in the next 24 hours. For the latest forecast and time details, see 3-day approach to Noaa ,
