Rang Panchami History
The story behind Rang Panchami is related to Lord Shiva and Cupid. According to Hindu mythology, Kamdev, the god of love, tried to awaken Shiva deeply using his flower arrows.
But Shiva, angry with the disturbances, opened his third eye and reduced Cupid to ashes. Seeing this, Cupid’s wife, Rati, along with other gods, argued for his return.
With his devotion, Shiva revived Cupid, but only in a spiritual form. To celebrate, the gods played with colors – marking the origin of Rang Panchami.
This festival symbolizes the victory of divine energy over the restoration of negativity and balance.
Importance of Panchami
Rang Panchami is just more than a festival of colors – it has a deep religious and spiritual meaning. It represents victory over negative energies and pays homage to the five elements of nature: fire, earth, water, air and place.
Many people believe that giving color to the gods during this festival leads to blessings and prosperity.
