Pakistan Railway has announced a special Eid-ul-Fitr gift for passengers by giving a discount of 20% on the rent of the train.
According to an official notification released on Saturday, concessional fare will apply to all mail, express and intercity trains for the first three days of EID.
Passengers making advance booking will also be eligible for low fare. However, the discount will not apply to EID special trains.
The PR has directed all the booking offices to strictly implement the fare reduction to benefit passengers from the proposal.
This initiative was expected to provide financial relief and convenience to those traveling to their hometowns to convince Eid with their families.
Earlier this week, the federal government officially announced a public holiday for Eid, giving a three -day break.
According to a notification issued by the cabinet division, the holidays will run from Monday, March 31 to Wednesday, 2 April.
The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, along with zonal committees, is ready to call on Sunday evening, 30 March 2025 (Ramadan 29, 1446 AH) to see Shawwal Moon, to mark the possible end of the holy month of Ramadan.
The meeting of the Monsapoting Committee will be held at the Ministry of Religious Affairs and the Interfaith Hormony.
Religious scholars, meteorological experts, and other stakeholders will consult the reports watching the moon from across the country during the session to determine the date of the Eid ul Fitr ceremony across Pakistan.
The beginning of the ninth and holiest month in the Muslim calendar – as well as the Eid holiday and the month of mourning of Muharram – is determined by looking at the new moon.
