Russian President Vladimir Putin on Monday thanked North Korea for sending troops for fighting with Russia in Moscow’s war against Ukraine and vowed not to forget his sacrifices.
Putin’s comments came only a few hours after North Korea confirmed for the first time that it deployed troops to fight Ukrainian forces.
Russia said two days ago that its troops had fully rectified the Kursk region, which was seized by Ukrainian forces last year. Ukrainian officials have denied Russia’s claim and said that the operation is going on in some areas of Kursk.
In a statement, Putin praised the North Korean soldiers, who stated that “stated with the Russian fighters, shoulder to shoulder, defended our motherland.”
