Punjab kings Captain Shres Iyer has been fined Rs 12 lakh for maintaining a higher rate during his four -wicket win against Chennai Super Kings at Chepack on Wednesday night. This was the first over-per-off crime of PBKS in IPL 2025, resulting in an additional fielder position inside the circle before the 19th over.
Despite the field ban punishment, Yuzvendra Chahal claimed four wickets in the 19th over, including his second IPL hat-trick, limiting CSK to 190 in 19.2 overs.

CSK, the first batting, was well deployed at 177 for 5 after 18 overs, operating on 88 to 47 balls of Sam Curan. However, he lost his last five wickets for only six runs, when Shivam Dubey and MS Dhoni fell at the crease.
In the chase of PBKS, Captain Iyer led a match winner off 41 balls out of 72 to win the match, with five fours and four sixes. He remained the team’s most run-scorer in this season, followed by Prabhasimran Singh closely, who also contributed to a half-century in this match.
Jeet took the Punjab kings to the second place on the numeral table. Chennai Super Kings, with just four points from ten matches, now ended with the playoff controversy.
Many other captains have faced similar over-rate penalty this season, including Rishabh Pant (LSG), Shubman Gill (GT), Axar Patel (DC), Sanju Samson (RR), Rajat Patidar (RCB), Ryan Parag (RR), and Hardik Pandya (MI).
Punjab Kings will return to action on May 4, who will host the Lucknow Super Giants in Dharamasala.
