Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) has made a profit of Rs 564.76 crore for the end of September, as against a loss of Rs 1,880.25 crore in the year ago.
According to a statement, under the leadership of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, there was a lot of help in the repayment of Rs 12,342 crore for PSPCL.
The support of the Punjab government was important for PSPCL to get a profit of 564.76 crores. The role of the state government was important in increasing the revenue growth and tariff adjustment of the power company.
The statement said that PSPCL took several measures to ensure that the power procurement remains under the cost check. It ensured 19 percent more generations than the thermal owned by the state in Lehra Mohabbat and Ropper due to the availability of cheap coal from its Pachwara coal mine.
This generated 21 percent more power from its own hydal plants; BBMB Hydel Plants 14 percent more generations, and 13 percent more banking with other states.
There has been a decrease of 48 percent in power procurement through short -term and exchange purchases.
No imported coal was used in the thermal plants of the state in Ropar and Lehra Mohabbat due to the operation of Pachwara coal mine. A small amount of coal imported into private thermal was used in Rajpura and Talwandi Sabo.
PSPCL’s electricity sales in the exchange were Rs 924 crore from April to September 2023 from April to April 2023 from April to September 2022.
In 2023, the purchase of electricity from the exchange was at an average rate of Rs 1,138 crore per unit as Rs 1,914 crore per unit in 2022 as against Rs 5.54. Transmission and distribution deficit has decreased by 1 percent.
