Prosecutors are demanding more than seven years jail to discredit former US rape George Santos. He blamed for allegations of federal fraud and identity theft.
The US Attorney for the Eastern district of New York argued in a court on Friday that a significant punishment was warrant as the “unique offenses” of the New York Republic made a “fake” of the country’s election system.
The office wrote, “From the creation of a full -fictional biography for their complete theft of money from the elderly and impaired donors, the loud hunger for the unrestrained greed and fame of Santos enables them to exploit the system by which we choose our representatives,” the office.
The prosecutors also argued that Santos was “ineffective and disregard” over the years, dismissed the prosecution as a “witch hunt” and refused to resign from the Congress as their lies were debated.
He said that after arguing the guilty “Ring Holll”, his claims suggested that he had “high probability of resumption”, as he has not confiscated any of his sick benefits or paid for any of his victims.
Santos’ lawyers rejected the Associated Press in an email, dismissing the seven -year proposal as “absurd and baseless”, saying that it is “designed to kill a person who already takes full responsibility for his actions.”
In his own sentence memo on Friday, he rejected the notion that Santos would return to criminal behavior, given that he has no pre -criminal record and also provides “important” assistance to his sister and his young daughter.
He argued for a two -year jail period, which is a mandatory minimum punishment for theft of increased identity.
Lawyers maintain such punishment, which are handed over to former US representative JC Jackson Jr. and other political figures are facing similar financial offenses.
He also deferred the cooperation of Santos in a separate federal investigation into a person from Texas, who tried to immerse the santos from approximately $ 1 million by presenting it as a political fixer to destroy evidence in his cases.
The lawyers wrote, “This sentence is already suffering together with the important collateral consequences of Shri Santos – including his Congress seat and loss of public insults – will send a clear message that such conduct will not be tolerated,” the lawyers wrote.
A federal judge on Long Island is scheduled to decide Santos sentence during the court hearing on 25 April.

Santos’ lawyers said at the time that they had more than $ 1,000 in liquid property and needed longer to manufacture their newly launched podcast “pants on fire” to start paying the loan.
The prosecutors understood Santos beautifully with their slander, arguing that he earned more than $ 800,000 from a new documentary on a video-sharing website cameo and since his expulsion from the Congress.
Two campaign employees of Santos have also blamed for federal allegations regarding the campaign financing scheme.
Sam Mile, Funderizer of his former campaign, was sentenced in March for a year and one day in federal prison. He admitted to charge the credit card of a high ranked Congress colleagues and donors without the authority, increasing the campaign cash for Santos.
