Prince Harry recorded a rare appearance in the Royal Court of Justice, Central London, England, today (8 April 2025), as his first day of his appeal began on his return of his security details against Britain’s home office.
Duke of Sussex, Prince Harry, is challenging the verdict of a previous High Court, which has upheld the UK government’s decision that it no longer provides it with the highest level of taxpayer-funded security. This and Meghan Markle officially announced in 2020 that he was withdrawing from his roles as senior working royals and later shifted to the United States. Since then, Harry and Meghan have been living in California, USA with their two children- Archie and Lilyt.
In written presentations, Harry’s lawyer, Shaheed Fatima KC told the court that both Harry and Meghan felt that they were “not being protected by the institution” when they were away from their duties in January 2020. However, the couple wished to continue their duties in support of the royal family privately funded. “
Reports claim that Harry has been torn when separated from his father, King Charles.
However, a judge of the High Court had earlier ruled that the government panel’s decision to offer Prince “Bespoke” security was valid and appropriate on the basis of the case-case, Harry’s lawyer, Shaheed Fatima argued against it in the appeal court. He said that the panel failed to follow its installed procedures and did not evaluate the proper risk of Duke’s safety needs.
Fatima said, “The appellant does not accept that Bispok means better. In fact, in their submission, it means that they have been excluded for separate, inappropriate and inferior treatment.”
It is noted that Harry usually does not attend the court hearing, but since she has recorded a rare appearance today- it shows how important the case is to her personally. His last major appearance occurred during a phone-hacking trial, where he became the first senior royal to testify in court over a century.

It is noted that Prince Harry arrived in Britain a few hours before his father, King Charles III and Queen Camilla and departed for a state visit to Italy. However, Prince Harry and King Charles did not meet.
Close to Tuesday’s hearing, Judge Sir Geoffree Wose mentioned the lack of time for the remaining sessions, urging the legal teams to keep the argument brief. This appeal is scheduled to continue on Wednesday, the expected information about parts of the hearing being organized privately is being discussed due to the sensitive nature.
This particular case shows how deeply the prince Harry had about the safety of him and his family about his complex relations with him and the royal institute.
