Dame Pru Lath has labeled the size of the food part “ridiculous” as he blames the rate of obesity among children on our dependence on processed food.
Great British Bake of The 85 -year -old judge said that the only way to solve the problem was to teach children “love for healthy food” to show them how to cook nutritious food.
He told The Sun: “Obesity rate in children is worrying and is getting worse as thick or overweight with almost one third.”
“I have been saying for 60 years that we start addressing children by teaching them to love healthy food – and the way to do so is to teach them to cook.
He said: “If we fed our children healthy, non-susceptible food, then we will not have this problem with obesity.”
In 2024, NHS reported that 15 percent of children between two and 10 in England were obese, and 19 percent of people between 11 and 15 years of age.
Meanwhile, it was shown that in 2022 64 percent of adults were overweight or thick, including 29 percent, which were obese, more men (67 percent) were classified as overweight or obesity than women (61 percent).
Lith pointed to Japan’s food culture, where childhood obesity rate is the lowest at the global level. According to data from the World Obesity Federation, 1.6 percent of girls and 6.2 percent of boys are obese.

He explained: “Look at Japan. Obviously, they are doing something that we are not doing. Children in Japanese schools sit for a free food every day, and it is healthy.
“Whatever is processed is allowed in the school kitchen. Everything is to be made with fresh material on that day.
“From a young age, an entire nation is being taught how and what to eat,” Lith said.
He praised Japan for being “rules” about what is sold in supermarkets, but criticized the UK government for thinking about taxation on food.
“Our government only sees chocolate, fast food and the amount of tax raised in this way, and thinks: ‘We cannot take the risk of doing so.’
She said that she wants people to “eat less” because they believe that the shape of the part has become “ridiculous”.
Lith said that she thinks that people eat “too much” due to unhappy and emotional food habits.

“I think this is partly due to unhappiness. When we are not happy, we relax. It is true that when you are unhappy, you go straight to the fridge or want chocolate.”
NHS has found that the spread of obesity was the highest among adults and children living in the most deprived areas.
In England, healthcare generally spends £ 6.5BN a year on treating obesity related health conditions.
