Madrid (AP) – Spanish authorities on Wednesday announced the discovery of a suspected drug smuggling tunnel connecting Morocco with Spanish Enclave of CEUTA in North Africa.
Police said the tunnel, which was found during an operation targeting the hashh, was fitted with basic lighting and measured 12 meters deep (39 feet). It was located during a discovery in a warehouse in an industrial part of the small Spanish region.
The Spain’s L PAS newspaper reported that the tunnel was spread up to 50 meters in the Spanish section, and that the tunnel was found to be in a pre -marble factory to close in 2020. The route was hidden from a mesh that gave way to the descending of a ladder. In the tunnel, the newspaper told.

The civil guard said in a statement, “The narrow tunnel can be used to transport drugs between Morocco and Spain.
Police said that many people have been detained in recent weeks, including two civil guard officers, which is part of a broader crack on drugs, during which more than 6,000 kg (6.6 ton) Hash had entry into trucks.
Another small Spanish Enclave, Seutta and Melilla, along with another small Spanish Enclave in North Africa create the only land border in Europe. Earlier this year, Spain and Morocco opened customs duty in Seut and Melilla to allow transfer of goods between the two countries on the land border.
