The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) reprimanded the claims of the Indian media that Pakistan suffered a loss of $ 85 million by hosting the Champions Trophy and the Green shirts played only one house game in the tournament.

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman, Amir MIR, and Chief Financial Officer (CFO) advisor on Thursday considered recent reports about the financial aspects of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 and the alleged loss claimed by the Indian media.

Mir strongly condemned the false narratives spread by the Indian media and some anti-Pakistan elements, stressing that such misinformation campaigns aim to reduce the successful hosting of Pakistan’s ICC Champions Trophy and create unnecessary controversy around the financial stability of PCB.

“We need to highlight the promotion of Indian media and anti-Pakistan elements, running a shop of lies-fortunately, even some Pakistani media outlets are broadcasting it,” said Mir.

Addressing financial matters, MIR revealed that the ICC Champions Trophy is expected to generate a profit of three billion rupees, more than an initial launch of two billion rupees.

He said, “The estimated advantage from the ICC Champions Trophy is for three billion rupees, which crosses the initial expectation of two billion. It generates revenue gate money and ground fees,” he said.

He clarified that PCB did not spend anything on hosting, as the ICC covered all $ 70 million. A full audit is pending.

“PCB did not contribute any money to the ICC Champions Trophy; the ICC covered all expenses with a budget of $ 70 million, and a full audit has been held so far.”

Highlighting the financial strength of the PCB, the MIR said that the board has already paid four billion rupees to the government, while its funds continue to increase.

He said, “PCB has paid four billion rupees to the government to the government, while its financial reserves continue to increase. The Champions Trophy was successfully held, in which all major teams were to play in Pakistan,” they confirmed.

Discussing the development of the infrastructure, MIR led the leadership of PCB President Mohsin Naqvi to upgrade international standards.

He said, “Chairman Mohsin Naqvi took the challenge of upgrading the stadium, completing the reconstruction of 90% Gaddafi Stadium, converting it into a valuable national property,” he said.
