A total of 41 countries in the memo are divided into three separate groups. The first group of 10 countries including Afghanistan, Iran, Syria, Cuba and North Korea will be determined for a complete visa suspension.
In the second group, five countries – Eritrea, Haiti, Laos, Myanmar and South Sudan – will face partial suspension that will affect other immigrant visas with tourist and student visas with some exceptions.
In the third group, a total of 26 countries, including Belarus, Pakistan and Turkmenistan, will be considered for a partial suspension to release American visas if their governments “do not try to overcome deficiencies within 60 days”, Memo said.
On the condition of anonymity, an American official warned that the list could be changed and it was not yet approved by the administration, including US State Secretary Marco Rubio.
