Mohsin Naqvi, president of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), has become the chairman of the Asian Cricket Council after a decision taken by the Regional Executive Committee.
The ACC Executive Committee organized a virtual session in which the decision was taken for the presidency of Pakistan.
Naqvi, who served as the chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) since February 2024, took the prestigious role on 3 April, the regional cricketing body said in a statement, stating that he said that he was appointed in a new chapter of leadership for Asian cricket.
Naqvi said, “I am deeply honored for presiding over the Asian Cricket Council.”
“Asia remains a heartbeat of world cricket, and I am committed to working with all member boards to intensify the development and global impact of the game.”
“Together, we will unlock new opportunities, promote maximum cooperation, and take Asian cricket to unprecedented heights. I thank the Outgoing ACC president for my leadership with my honesty and thanks to my honesty for his contribution to the ACC during his tenure.”
The presidents of the ACC are listed on a rotation-based method between member countries.
Naqvi made the president of Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) Shammi Silva a success. Considering the transition, Silva shared his praise for the ACC community: “It has been a privilege to serve as the President of the Asian Cricket Council.
“Our member boards working together are important in increasing the stature of ACC throughout the region.”
“As I stepped down, I am confident that under Naqvi’s competent leadership, the ACC will continue its remarkable journey and thrive,” Silva concluded.
NAQVI was appointed as PCB President for a three -year term in February last year and in addition to completing the role of PCB chief, NAQVI is also the internal minister of Pakistan.
It was also learned that Naqvi decided to divide his duties with the former captain of Pakistan cricket team Waqar Younis.
The PCB will focus on administrative matters within the major board and will act as his advisor on experienced pacer cricket matters.
Yunis will oversee cricket matters, including any objection certificate (NOC) of international and domestic cricket related issues, selection committee and players.
The PCB 2014 allows the Chairman of the Board of Constitution to divide or share his power with another officer.
