Pakistan’s flag was flying high in the Melbourne Squash Court as the young stars of the country won four gold medals and one silver at the Australian Junior Open on Thursday. Pakistan’s junior squash players have won four gold medals and one silver.
Azan Ali Khan won the U17 title by defeating the boys 3–0 Henry Cross and Ahmed Ali Naaz defeated Freddy Goldsmith to win the boys U11 final.
In the U17 final of the girls, Mehvish Ali defeated Eden-Alma Paulwa and her younger sister, Mahnoor Ali won the U13 title to the girls after defeating Rio Kawabta.
Pakistan’s youngest gold medal came from Ahmed Ali Naz when he won the local Freddy Goldsmith 3–1 in the boys U -11 finals. Naz is the number 1 ranked Pakistani in his age group, Goldsmith set the second set before 11–2 before 11–5.
The second preference kept an eye on the award and in the next two sets, Goldsmith was 11-6, 11-6 from the title.
Ali sisters come as a trio, and Seshish fought a concrete battle in his final, but it was eventually Emily Senior of Japan who won 3–2 in the girls’ U15 finals.
The first set dominated the first set with a win of 15–13 over Seshish, who defeated Japanese 11–5 in the second game.
The top seed senior once again scored in the overdrive as he won the third game 12–10. Seshish, in second place, took the fourth game 11-6. Senior won the title with a 11–4 victory over Pakistanis, which came away from a thrilling match with a silver medal.
Earlier this month, Noor Zaman was crowned the men’s champion at the U23 World Squash Championship in Karachi after a spectacular return against Egyptian Karim L. Torky.
