Oppo’s new foldable phone is one of the thinnest I’ve seen – and I hope OnePlus and Samsung follow suit

The world’s thinnest book-style foldable, Oppo Find N5, is finally here. I have done it for a week, and it has surprised me in more than one way – both positive and negatively.

When 8.93 mm thick, it is close to a slab phone than any other foldable. But he did not come without compromising. Looking at the on-paper camera specifications, I expected it very low, but it is better than other foldable phones in almost every relationship.

I like new, sophisticated design

Oppo found that the N5 weighs 229 grams and measures 8.93 mm in thickness, but which really feels that a slab phone is its flat side.

For the first time, I misunderstood a foldable phone for a slab phone while pulling out of my pocket. Unlike the curved sides of the Honor, the flat design of the Find N5 eliminates the gap between the folded sides, making it feeling close to the comfortable. Both are comfortable to catch the phone, but I wondered a pleasant surprise from the design of N5. The Galaxy Z fold 6 also has flat side, but its asymmetric cover screen aspect ratio keeps it with a combination with a slab phone.

For reference, the iPhone 16 Pro Max is 8.25 mm thick, and the Pixel 9 Pro is 8.5 mm thick. Oppo Find N5 is close to a slab phone than any other foldable.

Unfold it, and you are congratulated with a 4.21 mm-split device that feels like a sheet of hard paper. It is not the thinnest foldable-the title Huawei Mate Xt Xt is made with a 3.66 mm (which is luxurious) with a ultimat tri-folded phone-but Oppo’s phone is the thinnest book-style foldable.

The slim profile translates a great real -life experience for reading and browsing. It is easy to reveal, the crease is as low as it becomes, and the Kaj is strong enough to inspire faith. However, Samsung’s Kaj is the most polished because it remains exactly at the angle I want. After a certain degree, the hinge of N5 is completely opens, which is used to do something.

When I first rejected the phone, I could not almost feel the crease with my finger. It was barely worth noting and best I saw on a foldable phone. After a week’s use, it has become slightly darker and can be felt when finger is run on it. A similar thing happened when I used OnePlus Open, but it could not deteriorate over time, so I will not worry about it.

8.2 inch internal performance is great for reading. This cover seems less contemplative than the screen, which increases reading and browsing experience. The front performance is more reflective in direct light but provides more vivid color. The Oppo Find N5 is slightly longer than the first and a 6.62 -inch cover screen features 2,450 NITs and 1,600 NITs in high gloss mode. 20.7: 9 aspect ratio improves watching videos, and you can use it in tent to avoid thick black bars on large displays, half-disrespect.

Best battery life at a fold

Oppo packed the N5 5,600mAh silicone-carbon battery with support for 80W wired charging and 50W wireless airwalk charging. It may not look larger for the phone with an 8.2 -inch display, but it is efficient and easily lasts for a full day.

In the last one week, my use included social media (X, Instagram, and Threads), Communication Apps (WhatsApp, Slack and Teams), browsing, calling calls and snaping photos on Chrome. I went to bed with at least 15% of the battery balance.

The Oppo Find N5 is powered by Snapdragon 8 Elite Chipset, but is different from the flagship Qualcomm processor found on the Galaxy S25 Ultra and OnePlus 13. Instead of 8-core CPU, it has a 7-core CPU, but Oppo. Promises equal performance and efficiency.

I have not yet played demanding games on this recently. However, I saw some gaps while trying to respond to an email with GTA: San Andreas was running in the background after a 25 -minute game. Oppo’s championship mode (accessible by swiping right from the left edge during the gameplay) allows you to enter game mode with better performance and there is no notice for more immersive gaming experience.

Oppo found the N5 run Coloros 15 based on Android 15, with several AI-operated tools. I love AI unbelieving to improve blurred shots, and AI does a great job to remove unwanted items from the eraser photographs. You also get a circle of Google for search and Gemini, but please, write your email.

A camera downgrade but still a good enough system

Oppo found the N5 Sports a triple rear camera setup, headed with a 50MP main sensor with optical image stabilization (OIS). It is slightly downgrade with a large primary camera on the Find N3/OnePlus Open, but the performance of the daylight remains solid.

It is a (small in size) with a 50mp periscope telephoto sensor with 3x optical zoom, 6X in-sensor zoom and OIS. You also get an 8MP ultravide camera, which is downgrade from 48MP ultravide on its predecessor.

This is a weak camera system overall, but will I trade it for a more capable camera setup in thick design? Perhaps. I like to provide the best camera system, and OnePlus gave it with open – it was the best camera system of the brand yet, which is why this downgrade does not sit right with me. But one of these three lenses is one way to extract the most.

In good light, you get lively, bright colors with hasselblad tuning and excellent dynamic range. Both primary and telephoto cameras provide great day shots. The quality of the portrait is also good. In fact, the 6X in-sensor zoom is best on a foldable. I have captured some very good looking pictures.

In low-light situations, however, you begin to notice the effect of small sensors. Night photos are not as impressive. Here are some examples:

These pictures were clicked in indoor yellow lighting at around 4 pm, so it was not dark at all. From my T-shirt to my face, the colors are off and the portrait mode has not been well processed. Night outdoor photos are a bit better, but I believe that most people click pictures of their favorite partner humans in indoor lighting, and this is not a device for it.

Also: I have used this foldable phone for more than a year – and it is not Samsung or Google.

I have found the master mode a lot to help with it, while I have also been given freedom to catch Raw and play with those photos in Literoom. Even if you do not capture Raw, photo shooting in Oppo’s master mode can help help because it removes Husselblad processing and outputs non-proclaimed results, which sometimes look better Are those.

The camera system is not the most effective, but when compared to its rivals, it still piles well against the choice of Samsung and Google foldables. However, OnePlus Open was better in some relations.

Overall, Oppo Find N5 has excellent hardware and is closest. A foldable has received for a slab phone. This is unlikely to be launched in the US, and OnePlus confirmed that there will be no open 2 this year. For me, I like to use it for master mode in its light, comfortable form factor, excellent battery life, bright display and camera app.
