California officials said on Wednesday that an army veteran police officer was killed in a shootout during an operational crack on transnational drug trafficking organizations infiltrating illegal drugs in the United States.
Yuba County District Attorney Clint Curry said at a press conference on Wednesday afternoon that several law enforcement agencies launched 20 search warrants in Yuba, Satter, Tehma and Buttte Counties as a result of multi-year-old investigation into smuggling of Mentalfetamine and Phantenil.
Yuba County Sheriff Vendel Anderson said that an officer of the Mary’s Police Department was injured during the exchange of bullets amid law enforcement. The officer, who was taken to the Adventist Health and Rideout Hospital, later died of injuries.
“Obviously, this tragedy shook our small community,” said Anderson.

Anderson said the gunman was shot and killed. Another person was inside the house, and is considered a witness at this time, Curry said.
Sheriff said that the gunman died on the spot, and there was another person inside the house which Da Curry said that it was considered a witness at this time.

During the news conference, Mairyeswile police chief Christian Sachs did not identify the slain officer, saying that the department would take to honor and mourn on Wednesday. He said that he can release more information about the officer on Thursday.

Sachs said he was “a loved one, a brother, a father and a close friend.”

Curry said that the law enforcement before starting its search warrant said that they seized hundreds of pounds various drugs, including Methmfetamine and Fantenal.
“These major players used to carry poison through our communities,” he said. “And we can simply sit and see it. We had to do something about it. And it is just sad and we all will ask that you are praying for the officer’s family and for this law enforcement community which is still sad today.”

The officer’s death is the first time in more than a century that a marsivile officer has been killed in the line of duty. The identity of the officer is pending next to the information of the family.
