North Korea fired several ballistic missiles at the sea on Monday, a few hours after the second term of South Korea and the United States President Donald Trump discontinued their first major joint military exercise.

The Joint Chief of Staff of South Korea said that missile firing was revealed from the South -West Hawanghe province of the north. The weapons were described as a close-limit, and in response, the South Korean army said it has increased its monitoring currency and coordinates closely with the US.

“We know about the launch of many ballistic missiles of DPRK and consult with the Republic of Korea and Japan as well as other regional colleagues and partners. The United States condemns these tasks and further avoids DPRK from illegal and unstable acts,” the US Indo-Pacific command said in a statement. “While we have evaluated that this incident is not an immediate threat to American personnel, or region, or our colleagues, we continue to monitor the situation. American commitments to protect ROK and Japan remain ironclads.”

South Korean and US forces launched their annual Freedom Shield exercise on Monday.

According to the US Army, “Freedom Shield is an 11-day exercise with training to reflect an atmosphere of Korea Theater-One Combined, Multi-Domain and inter-operating by the Republic of Korea and the United States.”

“The field training event across the entire FS25 has urban fighter operations, field hospital operations, large scale treatment and withdrawal, field artillery exercises, air assault training, weight gap crossing, air defense artillery asset and verification, and a joint attack with US Marine Cars,” the army said.

However, North Korea’s Foreign Ministry is calling the practice “aggressive and conflict war rehearsal”.

“Despite the repeated warnings of DPRK, the Republic of America and the Republic of Korea are dead sets to staging mass military exercises.

The South Korean media reported that the accident occurred with North Korea in a city Pochen near the heavy armed border. About 30 people were injured, two of them seriously.

The initial assessment from the South Korean Air Force was that one of the KF -16 pilots entered the wrong coordinates and failed to verify the target visually before proceeding with bombing. According to the latest briefing content provided to the Associated Press, the other pilot had the correct coordinates, but focused only on maintaining the formation of the flight and demolished the bombs on the first pilot’s instructions.
