Two-time Olympic medalist Neeraj Chopra made a low-key in South Africa with a throw in the invitation program with a throw of 84.52 meters. Chopra ended at the top of the six thrower field. While small details are available at night near other throws Neeraj, it marks Neeraj’s first competition in 2025.
Neeraj’s throw came into the Potch Invitational Meet, which was being held at the McArther Stadium in Potchefstroom, South Africa. Neeraj was behind the 25 -year -old South Africa’s du Smit, who recorded the best throw of 82.44 meters, and Duncan Robertson, who touched 71.22 meters. Neeraj’s throw in Potchefstroom is India’s best throw in 2025: The World Athletics Toplist for 2025 is 84.39 meters from Sachin Yadav and an 80.47 meters of 80.47 meters from Rohit Yadav which is listed as India’s best throw in 2025.

The track and field star will be in action in the Diamond League in Doha at a month’s time.
“With just one month to go for the Doha Diamond League, Neeraj Chopra kicted his season in style – winning the Potch Invitational Meat with a solid throw of 84.52 meters in South Africa! Champion began to be chased,” posted by Inspire Institute of Sport on his social media handle.
The 27 -year -old is competing this season under a new coach in this season and Dr. Klaus Bartonitz participated. Neeraj and Bartonitz worked together to claim a gold medal at the Tokyo Olympics and a silver at the Paris Olympics. Both also combined to win several Asian Games, Commonwealth Games and World Athletics Championship medals.
Neeraj will work with Javelin Legend Jaan Zelezani for the 2025 season. Zelezani, who currently holds the world record for throwing away the farthest spear in history, trained those who throwed the Czech Republic spear, who ended behind Neeraj on the podium at the Tokyo Olympics.
In this season, Neeraj will expect to improve his individual best throw of 89.94 meters and dissolve a 90 meter mark finally.
