Karachi: The Muttahida Calmi Movement Pakistan (MQM-P) has deliberately called the Rabita Committee meeting to sit on the opposition backs in the National Assembly.
Talking to the media in Parliament, MQM-P leader Aminul Haq confirmed that the party had called a Handal to discuss the matter. “We have called a Central Committee meeting to decide whether to sit as independent or on the opposition benches,” he said.
Former federal minister Haq also said that MQM-P supported Shehbaz Sharif as Prime Minister that he would fulfill his commitments.
However, he said that the promises made to MQM-P, including the development packages of Sindh and Hyderabad, remained incomplete.
“Shahbaz Sharif government assured development projects for Karachi and Hyderabad, but not a single commitment has been honored in the last 18 months,” Haq said, referring to the ongoing reservation of the federal government towards MQM-P.
He further said that the party would discuss the separation from the ruling coalition and the possibility of going to opposition benches, as there is no progress on development projects.
