Novak Djokovic, Jannik Sinner, Aryana Sabalenka and Coco goff Among the 20 major tennis players, who signed a letter sent to the heads of the four Grand Slam tournaments who demand more prize money and said “the decisions that directly impress us.”
The letter, a copy of which was obtained by the Associated Press on Thursday, is on March 21 and starts with an request for an in-practice meeting in this month’s Madrid, which was open between the representatives of the players and four people, for whom it was addressed: Craig Tile Australian OpenStephen Morel of French Open, Sally Bolton of Wimbledon and Lu Lion of US Open.

The lower part of the message has a handwritten signature of 10 out of the top 11 women in the ranking from the week of March 3 – Elena Rayabkina’s name is missing – and that week a complete list of top 10 men.
Women are number 1 ranked Sabalenka, Goff, IGA Swiatech, Jessica Peguula, Madison Keys, Jasmine Paolini, Emma Navaro, Zheng Kinwen, Paula Badosa and Mirra Andriva. Men are the number 1-rank sinners-who are currently serving a three-month doping ban-24-bar major champions Djokovic, Alexander Zerev, Carlos Alkraj, Taylor Fritz, Kasper Rood, Daniel Medvedev, Andre Rubeve, Stephanos Tastasipas and Alexi D Minauri.
Of the 20, 15 have won at least one Grand Slam title or have reached a major final.
Players prepare three areas that they want to focus on:

    1. The Grand Slam tournament should contribute financially to the player welfare programs funded by two Pro Tours.
    2. The prize money “should increase the more suitable percentage of the revenue of the tournament, reflects the contribution of the players in the tournament price.”
    3. Athletes should say more in decisions “direct impact competition, as well as players health and well -being.”

The news of the letter – that was first mentioned by the French Sports newspaper L’Oquipe – when a no -confidence suit was filed by the Association of Players co -established by Djokovic, a no -confidence suit against the integrity agency of sports in the federal court in women’s and men’s professional tourism, international tennis federation and New York in New York. Djokovic was not listed as one of the plaintiffs, as he said that he wanted to see other players taking steps.
This suit asks for more money for players, stating that very low revenue in the hands of athletes ends, and gives a series of other complaints about how to play the game.
Last month, the antitrust filing included a reference to a report, “The US Open generated more revenue than a special cocktail ($ 12.8 million) sales, which was jointly paid to men and women’s champions.”
The US Tennis Association introduced a total record of $ 75 million in total compensation – including prize money and payment to cover the expenses of players for its Grand Slam tournament in 2024. It represented an increase of about 15% from $ 65 million introduced in the US Open in 2023.
Based on the currency exchange data at the time of events, Wimbledon had about $ 64 million in the awards last year, with both the French Open and the Australian Open approximately $ 58 million.
Spokesperson Brendon McIntiere said in a written statement, “The USTA is always available for open and direct interaction with the players, whether at the site or at any other point of the year, as we are constantly looking for ways to enhance our program for the benefit of players and fans.”
He wrote, “The USTA is incredibly proud of the leadership of the US Open in the compensation of the player in its history and our support for increasing professional tennis not only in the United States but also worldwide.” “This involves offering similar prize money to men and women for more than 50 years and providing the largest purse in tennis history in the 2024 US Open.”
The next Grand Slam tournament is the French Open, with the main-drama matches starting in Paris on 25 May.
