Former Pakistan all -rounder Mohammad Hafaz has addressed his recent comments on the legacy of cricketers since the 1990s, stating that his comments were incorrectly presented by some media outlets.
Hafze, who faced Baiklash, saying that his predecessors did not leave a permanent legacy in Pakistan cricket, clarified that his comment was not an individual attack on any former player.
His initial statement also included a match washed against Bangladesh after the defeat to New Zealand and India after Pakistan’s initial exit from the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy.
“I am a big fan of cricketers since the 1990s, but when we talk about their legacy, it is clear that they do not bring an ICC trophy home,” said Hafaz. “He played in the 1996, 1999 and 2003 World Cups, and despite strong performances, we lost every time.
Hafze highlighted that while those players were considered megastar, they could not inspire the coming generations by winning the ICC event. He pointed to Pakistan’s final disadvantage of the 2007 T20 World Cup, as a turning point before the 2009 victory.
Amid growing criticism, Hafiz resorted to social media on Monday, stating that his comment to clarify his comments was only about Pakistan’s inability to win the ICC tournament during that era.
“Some media houses are creating real materials.
He said that his comments did not mean personal criticism, but an observation on the performance of Pakistan’s tournament after 1992.
In response to his tweet, many fans criticized his early stance, with some questions what Hafiz had done to be able to question the players of the 90s in his career.
